Today we spent the entire day driving around in the Dartmoor, which is a moorland area. It’s a beautiful place with many surprising landscapes in a range of colors. If you like landscapes and walking, this is the place to go.
From the hills covered in heather and ferns you often get views over the farmland in the far distance.
Dartmoor is home to thousands of sheep.
Throughout the area you will see many of these walls made of rough stones.
In the distance you often see small rocky hilltops which are called “tors”.
Ferns, heather and a variety of other plants bring color in the landscape.
A very cute little cow crossed the road as were driving through the area.
In the afternoon clouds were moving in and gradually the weather got more somber.
Old bridges made of stones cross the little river near Postbridge.
The clouds were getting lower and lower as we visited this tor.
You can climb on the rocks, but it looks like they can come down on you any moment.
Driving and walking around in Dartmoor was really wonderful. If you enjoy wild landscapes and long walks, then don’t miss this area when you visit the south west of England.
From here we continue our journey to Bath which we hope to visit tomorrow.
